Caf Confederation Cup: Saint Louis Suns United 0-1 TS Galaxy (0-2 agg): Rockets ease into first round

Thero Setsile's second half goal helped the Rockets emerge 2-0 winners on aggregate against the Seychelles side in the preliminary round tie

TS Galaxy progressed to the 2019 Caf Confederation Cup first round after defeating Saint Louis Suns United 1-0 in Seychelles on Sunday afternoon.

The Rockets came into this encounter leading 1-0 on aggregate thanks to Sizwe Mdlinzo's goal in the first-leg encounter which was played in South Africa two weeks ago.

However, the hosts were keen to overturn the deficit and progress to the next round of the continental tournament.

Galaxy coach Dan Malesela opted for players with international experience as Botswana national team players Mosha Gaolalwe and Thero Setsile both started for the visitors.

The score was 0-0 at the interval with central defender Gaolalwe and the Galaxy defence having contained Saint Louis in the first half.

The deadlock was broken eight minutes after the restart and it was the GladAfrica Championship side who opened the scoring.

Attacking midfielder Setsile found the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Galaxy as the visitors doubled their lead on aggregate.

The hosts had to find a way to score three goals in order to take the lead on aggregate against the tournament debutants.

However, they found it difficult to beat experienced goalkeeper Ludwe Mpakumpaku in the Galaxy goal.

Ultimately, the match ended as a 1-0 victory to Galaxy, who were able to contain Saint Louis in the closing stages of the encounter.

They will now face CNaPS Sport of Madagascar in the first round.
