NORTHFIELD, Ill. (AP) _ Stepan Co. (SCL) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $26.9 million.
On a per-share basis, the Northfield, Illinois-based company said it had profit of $1.16. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $1.02 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 75 cents per share.
The specialty chemicals company posted revenue of $466.7 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $112.8 million, or $4.83 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.99 billion.
Stepan Co. shares have increased 25 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 27 percent in the last 12 months.
