WASHINGTON, Feb 11 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Monday that the Tennessee Valley Authority, a U.S.-owned power generator, should consider the importance of coal in the power mix before voting to close coal-fired plants, like one in Kentucky.
"Coal is an important part of our electricity generation mix," Trump, who considers voters in coal-producing states as part of his base, wrote on Twitter.
TVA "should give serious consideration to all factors before voting to close viable power plants, like Paradise #3 in Kentucky!" The unit is the last coal-fired part of the plant, and TVA is expected to vote soon on its future. (Reporting by Timothy Gardner; Editing by Sandra Maler)
